Curve Ball

I played softball for a good 10 years of my life and I was never good at batting if the pitcher decided to switch things up. Sometimes life throws me a curve ball or two that I just don't expect. For example a phone conversation that goes like this:

*dial moms number*

"Hello?" Collin (Brother in law)

"No... You aren't mom. Your voice is too deep" Me

"Oh. Ya. You're right. Sorry." Collin

"Well is she there? Can I talk to her?" Me

"I guess I should tell you. She just got in a bike crash." Collin

"You're kidding me right?" Me

Needless to say, I was home a few hours later. Thankfully my next final isn't until Thursday.

She's fine. Just gave us all a good scare. Okay fine is relative. By fine I mean you totally could see her skull from the gash on her head, she probably has a few broken bones, and she's got some pretty fun bruises. But if any of you know my mother, she is as stubborn as they get, and she's still smiling. She plans on still going to work tomorrow, and she refuses to go to the doctors. Gotta love that nurse! She takes care of herself even when you don't want her to.

Basically this post is not a "pity me post". It's more of a "practice your swing no matter what pitch comes your way" post. Life can be extremely unpredictable. Just be thankful every day for what you have. Be grateful for your health, your strength, your family, all the little things you may take for granted. No one goes through life without a few curve balls thrown from the pitcher. So be ready to swing.

4/21/2011 - A Day to Remember

It all started when I was looking for a pan in the kitchen. Clinking my dishes around trying to find that dang pan! It's a good thing I couldn't find it.

I woke up my roommate who was sleeping in the front room.

"Taylor! Don't eat." Allie

"Umm why?" Me

"I was just suppose to make sure you don't eat. There might me a surprise coming?" Allie

Naturally, everything started to make sense. Scott had texted me some pretty random texts "Are you in class? When will you be home? Ya I wish I could come up but work is so busy"... Sneaky boy.

Moments later, the knock came.

I knew my mom was coming up to Logan because she had a patient, but both her and Scott told me he wouldn't be coming because he had a test.

I looked through the eye hole in the door and started freaking out. I couldn't see anything. A thumb was in the way. Dead give away it was Scotty!

Sure enough, there he was, standing there with a bouquet of flowers. I had no idea he was coming up!! I honestly started freaking out I was so happy.

Without thinking I just jumped into his arms smiling and hugging him while I kept saying "I knew it. I knew it!"

My mom had driven Scott up with her.

Scott then told me we had a picnic planned, and that he had to leave in 3 hours to get back for his test so that we had to get going. So we left my mom and my roommates and headed for our picnic.

We drove to first dam at the mouth of Logan Canyon. I have a personal soft spot for first dam because it is where Scott and I had our first kiss. It was rainy and cold, but I didn't care.

We ate under the pavilion, sheltered from the rain. He was prepared though. Blanket and all! We sat there talking, laughing, and stuffing our faces with some of my personal favorites, turkey croissants, cheetos, e.l.fudge cookies and dr. pepper.

I had the thought cross my mind that maybe Scott was going to propose! But I quickly pushed it out of my mind for the fear of disappointment. Besides, he kept telling me that he was going to buy the ring this weekend. He didn't even have it yet.

After our picnic we decided to drive to the Logan temple. The Logan temple has been one of my favorite temples ever since I was really little. We walked around the temple and sat on a bench facing the temple.

We sat talking. Scott was being as cute as ever. And then I just had this overwhelming feeling. Scott was going to propose. I started crying out of no where.

"Why are you crying?" Scott

"I'm just really happy. I love you so much." Me

Scott stood up and lifted me up off the bench. We stood their hugging each other wrapped in a blanket.

"Can I see the blanket?" Scott

So of course I give it to him.

"Is it okay if I put it on the ground?" Scott

That's when I lost it. Absolutely started balling. I knew what was coming.

Before I knew it, the love of my life was on one knee, telling me how much I meant to him and how much he loved me. He then pulled out a small blue box and opened it. And then came the question.

"Will you marry me?" Scott

There was no pause between his question and my answer.

"Yes" Me

I honestly was in shock. I just kept crying and smiling and telling him I loved him and how happy I was. It honestly was the best day of my life.

I can't wait to spend forever with this boy. He is absolutely the best thing to ever happen to me. I love you Scott!

Yes, I'm THAT girl...

The cheesy "I don't know how I lived my life with out him" quote applies to my life right now. Gag me right?! I'm 19 and completely head over heels in love with a boy I met a mere 4 months ago. It doesn't help that my family absolutely loves him (especially my mom). I never thought I would be "that girl". The one who finds the perfect boy not even a year after high school gets out. But I am that girl. And I love it. My life is great right now. I've never been so happy. I have found my best friend and you can bet big things are going to happen in the future with this boy. I can't wait for this summer. I'm sure 2011 will be the best summer yet!

I wrote a long hate letter just barely. I deleted it all though. I'm sick of people talking crap behind my back, so I'm not about to do the same. Call me immature one more time... That's a sure sign of who the immature one is.
Sincerely,
Me.

Date Night

Spring Break 2011!

No better person to spend it with than Scott Dunn. So saturday I surprised Scott and we went to the Jazz game. Despite the fact the Jazz have hit rock bottom, they managed to pull out a win in over time to the Sacramento Kings. After the game we went to Juicy Berry over at the gateway and got some frozen yogurt. I'm addicted. Red Velvet... If any frozen yogurt place you go to has red velvet yogurt, it would be a sin for you to not get it. Mix a little chocolate in with it and put some coconut on top... I promise you won't be disappointed.

And THEN Life Happened

You know how some days you just wake up and you know it's going to be a bad day?

You pour your cereal into the bowl and THEN realize you have no milk.
You put on your shirt and THEN you realize it has a giant stain on it.
You shut the door and THEN you realize your key is locked inside.
You go to class and have an open book test and THEN you realize you forgot the book.

Well if your story was anything like mine today, I have some words for you:

Ha. That sucks.

Join the club...

But then you get a random text that has nothing to do with the conversation you are having that goes a little something like this:

"Miss You."

THEN your day is suddenly better.
It's good to keep friends like that.
(:
